Practise facilities at Glyn Abbey Golf Club

Glyn Abbey is carrying out a huge revamp of its driving range, reshaping the landing areas to improve visibility off the tees and putting in a full drainage system and perimeter netting. The range is split into two sections with a clearly defined fairway. There are no targets for the long driving area, something that helps with the psychology of driving a golf ball. For the short game, however, there are distance markers to help golfers assess their accuracy, plus bunkers and 360 square metre USPGA specification pitching green, where the ball will react exactly like it does out on the course, will also soon be available. It will have greenside bunkers and will be, in the words of Darren and Martin "the ultimate short game area."

Work on this aspect of the practise facilities will start very soon. The range may have to close occasionally during the building work but the plan is to minimise disruption for golfers. In the meantime all the usual practise facilities - putting green, nets, bunker etc - remain available.

There is also an indoor putting studio at Glyn Abbey where the club professionals can custom fit and analyse your putting ability. The club is accredited to the Dave Hicks System', the only club in Wales to have this concept up and running.
